Telecom Service Centres are set for a significant rise in staff numbers in their operations in Bute and Dunoon after winning a major increase in new business from mobile phone giants Vodafone.

The contact centre company, founded in the island of Bute in the Firth of Clyde in 1994, have launched a major recruitment drive after securing the extra business from Vodafone.
Initially, TSC will be looking to add over 180 new staff members to their present numbers of 360 in the two locations but that total could be further increased in the near future if the business expands as expected.
TSC have handled work for Singlepoint, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vodafone, for a number of years – and this decision by the parent company to award TSC more of its customer care contract is a massive vote of confidence in the ability of the staff to handle such an important aspect of their business.

“This is tremendous news not just for TSC but for the local economy,” said Gordon McDowell, Senior Operations Manager for TSC in Rothesay and Dunoon.
“It not only safeguards present staff numbers but offers exciting new career prospects for many more of the local community.”

TSC began in Bute in 1994 with five employees and within six years had expanded into one of Scotland’s leading contact centres – with further centres in Dunoon, Greenock, Larbert and Aviemore.
This year has seen TSC back on the expansion trial with the opening of their first-city centre operation in Glasgow and the launch of the DTI-backed Consumer Direct service from TSC’s centre in Shawbost in the Isle of Lewis. They now employ over 1900 staff.
