TSC set to double Dearne Valley jobs in first year
MAY 2005
TELECOM SERVICE CENTRES, the Scottish-based company which took over T-Mobile’s Dearne Valley operation last year, have announced a major staff expansion.
TSC are launching a recruitment drive after extending the contract they inherited from T-Mobile and winning FOUR new clients for their Dearne Valley centre.
When TSC took over the facility last November, staff numbers had dwindled down to 250 and there had been speculation that the remaining jobs could be lost to overseas competition.
However, since their take-over TSC have been growing the business and steadily recruiting. Staff numbers are now closer to 400 and they are expected to be in excess of 500 by the end of the year when the four new contracts are fully on stream.
“This is extremely good news for the Dearne Valley area,” says TSC’s Chief Executive Ken Hills. “I have to say we have been delighted at the quality of the staff we inherited and are very pleased that their skills and enthusiasm have been rewarded.
“TSC’s history is one of a company which grew very quickly in Scotland. I am delighted that the TSC formula has transferred so successfully to the Dearne Valley.
“T-Mobile are very pleased at the way we have handled all aspects of the transfer of business here and our new clients bring a diversity and new skills challenge. I have no doubt we will deliver.”
The company began on the Scottish island of Bute in 1994 – with only seven staff. They are now Scotland’s largest contact centre company with well over 2,000 employees and locations in Glasgow, Greenock, Falkirk, Dunoon, Aviemore and the Isle of Lewis as well as Dearne Valley.
“This has been a very encouraging start to our Dearne Valley operation,” says Hills. “I am convinced there are plenty more opportunities to grow TSC in general and our Dearne Valley site in particular.
“I look forward to more local people joining TSC and setting out on an exciting and rewarding career path.”
