Call Centre Job Boost Welcomed
April 2004

Jobs are being created at a Greenock call centre and the town’s MP said it made a welcome change from other centres moving employment abroad.

Telecom Service Centres will start recruiting 15 new full-time employees in Greenock next month, part of a Scotland-wide recruitment drive that will see 121 new full-time workers across all of their sites.

TSC has 370 workers at Greenock and handles calls for various companies including the Royal Bank of Scotland and T-Mobile.

Greenock and Inverclyde MP David Cairns said today, “I am pleased a local business is creating call centre jobs at a time when other call centres jobs are leaving the country.“

Meanwhile, TSC has successfully retained a prestigious industry award - The CCA (Call Centre Association) Standard: A Framework of Best Practice.  They are one of the few UK companies to be re-accredited with it.

TSC Greenock manager, Zoe Willoughby, said: “We are delighted the industry has recognised TSC cares for its employees.  The best way to look after our customers is to ensure we look after our staff.  Retaining the Best Practice Standard proves we do.“

A British Standards Institute assessor visited TSC’s operation and spoke to a large-section of staff to get a proper insight into the company.

Zoe added: “We are committed to making TSC a good place to work and to contribute to the local community.“

Ken Hills, TSC Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am delighted to retain the accreditation.  It is a confirmation of our strengths, our commitment to our employees and excellent service that we provide.“

TSC also have call centres in Rothesay, Dunoon, Larbert and Aviemore.  (The Greenock Telegraph)
